Lets Go Learn

Peyton and Eli Manning Comes to the First and Second Grade!!

The first and second grade students participated in the Peyton and Eli Manning Scholastic Reading Challenge. The students helped to donate  one million books to kids in need by reading the goal of 100 books for Peyton’s team.

   The first graders are learning different ways to solve addition and subtraction problems.  They are beginning to practice these facts by using flash cards. In social studies, they will be learning how to read and create a map key.  The first graders will also explore the life cycle of a caterpillar and a frog.  The concepts of  Long I and the diagraphs wh ch, tch will be covered in in reading.

   The second graders will begin learning how to read and make various types of graphs in math.  In science, they will be discovering how bones and muscles work be creating a model of an elbow.  In social studies, the students will be learning about natural resources and how humans can effect and change the Earth’s natural resources.  Adding the plurals –s, -es and using the r-Controlled sounds er, ir, ur will be the focus of the second grade reading lessons.
